Meet Heidi Schmidt
I’m Heidi. I’m a mom, a small business owner, a community advocate, and proud resident of Pasadena, Maryland. I’m running to represent District 31 in the Maryland House of Delegates because our communities deserve leadership that listens, leads with integrity, and puts people over politics.
I was born and raised in Vermont, the first in my family to go to college. My parents worked hard and instilled in me a deep respect for service, sacrifice, and hard work.
My passion for public service was sparked by my public school education. It gave me opportunity, direction, and drive and helped me see first hand, how government can be a force for good.
At Northeastern University, I studied political science and had opportunities to intern in the halls of the Massachusetts State House and Congress. After college, I moved to Washington, D.C. to work in public policy, where I met my husband and built a career in communications and later marketing. We married in 2009 and moved to Maryland shortly after, eventually choosing Pasadena in 2016 as the place to raise our family.
Service runs deep in my blood. My grandfather, father, brother, and husband have all served in the National Guard and I carry that legacy of service with pride, and a commitment to those who serve to protect our freedoms and sacrifice for our nation.
I’ve spent over 15 years working in marketing and communications for both large companies and small businesses. In 2020, I launched my own business to help small and mid-sized businesses show up online with clarity and confidence. I know firsthand what it’s like to build something from the ground up and how frustrating it can be when government policies ignore the realities small businesses face.
In addition to running my business, I currently serve on the board of the Pasadena Business Association, and I represent District 31 on the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee. I’ve previously served on the board of the Junior League of Annapolis and have volunteered with Girls on the Run for the Lake Shore Elementary & CBMS PTAs, and for Scouts of America as my son went through the Cub Scout program.
I believe showing up matters and I’m proud to be running for the opportunity to serve our community.
My Leadership Values…
Authenticity – I believe in showing up as I am and being honest with the people I serve.
Integrity – I don’t make empty promises. I believe in follow-through and accountability.
Communication – I’m here to listen, learn, and lead through collaboration, not isolation.
I’m running to represent everyone in District 31. That means open conversations, responsive leadership, mutual respect, and a genuine commitment to learning what matters most to you. because public service should be about showing up, not showing off.
When I’m not working or campaigning, you can find me out on the trails, paddling local waterways, nose deep in a good book, or logging a few miles on a run. I believe in balance, in being grounded, and in leading with heart.
